Leonora Mardh, LMSW, Psychotherapist

(She/Her)

Psychotherapist

Greenpoint Locations & Telehealth

Supervisor: Olivia Grabar-Sage

I have always been endlessly curious about people, why we do the things we do, and how we come to understand ourselves and the world around us. Therapy offers a unique opportunity to explore these questions with openness, curiosity, and without judgment. My approach is primarily psychodynamic and relational, with an interest in how our personal histories, unconscious motivations, and relationships shape our experiences. I am particularly interested in the contradictions within us, such as the ways we may simultaneously desire closeness and independence, change and familiarity, or find ourselves repeating patterns we consciously wish to escape. Therapy is a collaborative process of discovery that can help us develop greater self-awareness, emotional freedom, and more fulfilling relationships with ourselves and others.

My clinical experience includes long-term psychotherapy with adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, questions of identity and self-worth, and major life transitions. I have worked with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and personal backgrounds, including survivors of intimate partner violence and formerly incarcerated women.

Before becoming a therapist, I studied and worked in the arts and humanities, an experience that continues to inform my appreciation for the complexity of human experience and the stories we tell about ourselves. As a first-generation American with Swedish roots, I am also interested in questions of cultural identity and belonging. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy film, art, and ceramics.

Leonora Mardh, LMSW, received her Master of Social Work from Columbia University and completed a two-year psychodynamic fellowship at the Karen Horney Clinic. She is currently pursuing psychoanalytic training at the American Institute for Psychoanalysis. Her clinical experience includes the Karen Horney Clinic, Brooklyn Integrative Psychological Services, Sanctuary for Families, and A Little Piece of Light.
