Dara Cole, MHC-LP, Psychotherapist

Psychotherapist

Supervisor: Sara Wolfson, LCSW

Adults Only

Greenpoint Locations & Telehealth

I believe we all have the innate wisdom and capacity to heal. Even amidst life’s messiness, there are opportunities for peace, growth, and joy. I provide a spacious, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients can feel deeply seen and understood. My approach is gentle and collaborative; I honor your story while helping you identify barriers that keep you stuck and uncover practical tools to move forward. Together, we cultivate resilience, aliveness, and joy, often with humor and play.

I draw from psychodynamic theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness and somatic practices, DBT skills, and a harm reduction framework. I integrate guided meditations, storytelling, metaphor, stress regulation tools, and step-by-step planning, balancing structure with space for creative exploration. I have experience supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodiverse people, parents, couples, immigrants, and people navigating complex family dynamics, substance use, and life transitions. Oftentimes, folks who have felt like misfits or outsiders, even within their own families or communities, resonate with my shame-free approach.

Dara Cole, MHC-LP, holds a Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from NYU and a Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies from Mount Holyoke College. She first encountered the practice of being a “welcome,” a presence of safety, regard, and acceptance while facilitating programs for trauma-impacted youth. Over decades of experience, Dara has supported individuals navigating major life transitions, grief, caregiving, chronic illness, and relationship challenges. She also brings expertise in mindfulness, somatic practices, and yoga-informed approaches as the founder of Sacred, a former yoga and movement studio that once existed in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
